Arianna Orchestra Festival - 2017

I have read some where that if something happens three times in a row it becomes a tradition. The 3rd annual Arianna Orchestra Festival took place on January 10, 2017, and established this tradition.  As an Artistic Director I was both honored and humbled to witness the success of this festival. The participating high schools this year were Clayton, Ladue and Ritenour.

Collectively that amounts to over 80 students who visited University of Missouri St. Louis and the Touhill Performing Arts Center.  The day consisted of orchestra rehearsals, sectionals for each instrument group, campus tour, and individual masterclasses. The Festival culminated in a combined orchestra concert of all three high schools. Even though it was a long day, filled with many different activities, students enjoyed every  bit of it.

Ritenour High School performs in the evening orchestra concert

I want to express my gratitude to the teachers-orchestra directors-who contributed to the success of this year’s festival. Special thanks to Julianna Campbell (Ritenour), Daniel Henderson (Clayton) and Twinda Murry (Ladue). Without their dedication and hard work none of this could have happened.

We look forward to hosting other high schools in the area in the following 2018 year!

Yours truly,
Julia Sakharova
Artistic Director

John McGrosso: An Evening of Baroque Chamber Music - Tuesday, April 26

Please join me, Arianna Quartet Violinist John McGrosso, as I perform with my good friend, Washington University Harpsichordist Todd Decker on Tuesday, April 26th, at the Tavern of Fine Arts, in an evening devoted exclusively to the music of Handel and Bach.

These two giants of the Baroque period had vastly different approaches to composition and very different visions of the role of music in human life. Experience for yourself how these compare and contrast in an evening of wonderfully compelling music for violin and harpsichord, performed in the uniquely intimate and casual setting of the Tavern of Fine Arts.  We hope to see you there!

Choose between two opportunities to hear this program of great Baroque chamber music, at either 6:30 or 8:30 that evening. For more information about the Tavern of Fine Arts, visit http://tavern-of-fine-arts.blogspot.com/p/events.html

We hope to see you there!
